SYSTEM
Vee-Arnis-Jitsu is an ever evolving system of tactical urban street self defense. Vee Jitsu is the foundation of the art. It integrates joint locks, breaks, throws, and ground movements of Judo and Ju Jitsu with the brutal, "no-holds-barred" approach of street fighting. Use of techniques such as groin strikes, biting, and eyeball gouging are readily employed during self defense situations. In order to additionally prepare for the realities of street confrontations, students are drilled rigorously in class and paired with persons of different shapes and sizes. That way an individual can experiment with various techniques to determine whether they work effectively against larger or smaller opponents within a given situation. Arnis
 The
powerful empty-hand and weapons of Arnis makes up the second major component
of Vee Arnis Jitsu. It is here where we derive the famous "Cinco
Tero" pattern. The use of a stick is taught as a tool for learning,
not always as a weapon itself. People have this misconception that they
are learning to hit someone with a stick, what students learn is to master
the movements of the stick. The reason is, you can pick up anything and
use it as a weapon and have the ability to flow, as well as being empty
handed and applying those same movements as you would with a stick or
knife. The art of knife-fighting is another major part of weapons training.
With great emphasis on rapid continuous repetition of the "Cinco
Tero" and other striking drills, students develop speed and mobility
using edged weapons, empty hands, and anything one may be holding in their
hand.
Muay Thai
Muay
Thai boxing concepts combined with stamina training make up the third
part of Vee Arnis Jitsu. Students are taught to maximize their fighting
abilities by utilizing their elbows, knees, shins, as well as traditional
hand and foot strikes. Protective gear is always employed during these
sessions for
safety and to allow students to use maximum power against their opponents.
Intensive bag work with two-person punching and kicking drills are also
part of the curriculum. In addition, the system incorporates rigorous
calesthenics in order to help students maintain optimum fitness levels.
1-2-3 HIT
The
1-2-3 HIT program is where it all comes together. In this program students
are allowed to train full power with resistance in pairs. Full body armor
(FIST) suits are worn. This allows for functional techniques performed
at full strength, which tries to match as close as possible to what actually
happens on the street. Instead of practicing in the traditional manner,
in the HIT program students can gauge their attacks and defenses. Every
type of empty handed technique is practiced. Also gun and knife techniques
are trained to round out the program. This is front line self-defense
training at its best.
Grappling
In today's society it is believed that 90% of fights end up on the ground!
The fact is, 90% of Self-Defense situations do not end on the ground.
No matter what, Vee Arnis Jitsu leaves out no element of self-defense
or fighting. Our grappling program is geared towards self-defense. The
big question of
what if I am taken to the ground is answered. Students are taught a variety
of defenses from the mount, half-mount, and turtle positions. Ground controls,
chokes, arm bars, knee and leg bars, and slipping moves combined with
effective strikes gives students a very well rounded program. In addition
to being well versed in rolling and falling techniques, students learn
the ability to recover from being taken to the ground.
Knife Training
The knife training phase of Vee Arnis Jitsu is very unique. The goal is always self-defense but within this you also enhance your timing, reflexes, hand to eye coordination, and body movement. Here students are taught angles of attack, striking patterns, the do's and don'ts of holding a knife, various blocking, redirecting, faking, and set-up concepts. Students learn how significant a knife is in a self-defense situation and how it can equalize a situation when need be. To cover all angles, knife techniques are taught standing and on the floor in case you are taken to the ground. This training also enhances your empty hand skills as well.
Women's Self Defense
Women's self-defense is another integral part of Vee Arnis Jitsu. Women
are not just taught to fight and defend. A program is set up which teaches
street smart awareness, verbal combat, common scenarios that women face
on the street, and tactics. The self-defense techniques taught are based
on setting an attacker
up, breaking their balance, and using leverage to effectively defend yourself.
Various attacks, defenses, mugging situations, and weapons defense are
also taught. Vee Arnis Jitsu provides a program in which women can feel
safe, confident, and be aware in any given self-defense situation.
